Look at Kent walking on the plank in the picture above. He is focused, putting one foot carefully in front of the other. If he shifts his weight a little too much to the left or the right, he will find himself in waist deep water, wearing soggy clothes, struggling to keep his balance against the current. That’s how it is for Agape right now on the brink of a New Year.
We have some critical needs going into 2014 and if they aren’t filled, we will be groping to get our balance in the months ahead. What’s the problem? We are ready to GO, but we have NO LABORERS!
We have immediate openings in our Spring 2014 programs:
Spring Expeditions – March 30-April 13th. Currently, only ONE person has signed up for our spring expedition! We need doctors, nurses, and non-medical people! Medical people can give free medical consultations and free medicines to patients and perform some simple medical tests such as glucose screening and EKGs. If you don’t have a medical background, we can teach you how to fit eyeglasses in about 45 minutes.
After receiving a new pair of eyeglasses, this woman was invited
to read a scripture from a New Testament.
What will happen if we don’t GO? It could mean eternal separation from God for people who have never heard the name of Jesus. When Jesus met the woman at the well, He was tired and thirsty, but He took the time to tell her about God’s Love. He didn’t have to, He could have gotten a drink and moved on (John 4:7-26). Hundreds of people will miss hearing the Gospel if we don’t GO. They will miss the experience of seeing God’s Love through your kindness and your willingness to use your skills, seeing you sacrificing your time and resources. They will miss the opportunity to give their lives to Christ. That’s the bottom line. That’s why we GO – to show and tell people about God’s love so they can have a relationship with Him now and into eternity.
If this is something you’ve thought about and you’ve felt God tugging at your heart, don’t wait any longer. Please pray and then email us at info@mcagape.org as soon as possible. It takes a minimum of two months to get your authorized documents plus we need to make arrangements for transportation, translators, and for a local church in a remote area to receive you. Teams are usually made up of one medical person, one non-medical person and two Russian translators and you will be working with a pastor and church members from the local church, so you won’t be alone. Teams usually stay in believers’ homes, so you will be well cared for! Going on an expedition is a life changing experience – for you and for the people you are going to meet.
We also have openings in our late summer and fall expeditions. Now is the time to sign up. Email us at info@mcagape.org for an application.

April Visiting Lecturer – We need a Family Medicine physician who would be willing to come to Moscow for one week to teach at one of our partnering medical universities. If you haven’t been to Russia before, you can come to our clinic and talk to our Russian doctors and learn about the Russian medical system. If you are interested, call me at 1-877-576-4504 (toll free) as soon as possible so we can discuss the details such as dates and possible topics.
In 2011, Agape began work to create “Partners in Global Health Education,” a network of like minded medical institutions dedicated to improving medical care, not only in Russia, but around the world.
This medical institution has ASKED us to continue this lecture series. It is a great opportunity to have a positive influence on people who are in a position to make changes, people who are teaching the next generation of family practice doctors. Please pray and then pick up the phone if you sense God’s leading.
After writing this E-Flash, I got some good news that I want to share you. The day before Christmas I received a surprise Christmas Gift! The UPS man delivered the rebuilt Sonosite 180 to my office and it is “good as new.” So THANK YOU to the folks at Sonosite for fixing our little unit for free!
To top it off, we also received some donations to go towards a sonogram. The amount happens to be the cost of a new small portable Sonosite unit. After the holidays, I am going to start working on the application for a new unit. Even though the broken one is fixed, both of our small Sonosites are now 10 plus years old. So, I think getting the new unit with the funds God has graced us with will be a good investment in the future. God is Good!
Thank you for coming along side us this past year! We are looking ahead to a bright 2014! With your continued prayers, financial resources and involvement, we can focus on the ministry God has called us to do and together we will let our light shine (Matt. 5:16)!
You are welcome to serve! If you are not a doctor but know of one with a heart for the lost, please forward this message!
